As we all know, the Internet has become a nearly-essential tool for carrying out many important tasks such as job-hunting, banking, filing taxes, and applying for government benefits. It can also be a source of great pleasure: allowing us to stay in touch with distant family and friends, meet new friends or partners, enjoy music, shop, learn and share knowledge with others. The list is nearly endless.
Yet, I have found that many Seniors who are smart and successful in other areas, use their computers only in a very limited way. Often they have been given a computer by their children and shown how to use email, login to Facebook and type some words into Google. Without further teaching and support, they don’t feel confident using the Internet in other ways.
If you are a Senior living in the Portland area, and would like to expand your online horizons, I can help. I will come to your home, set up any service that you are interested in (if needed) and teach you how to use it. I enjoy working with Seniors, and you will find that I am a kind, gentle and patient instructor. Some options we can explore together include:
- Becoming an active Facebook user
- Using Skype (real-time chatting with a webcam)
- Finding events or opportunities in the “real world”
- Joining and taking part in Meetups
- Internet Dating
- Online Shopping
- Music Services
- Setting up and using your own Internet blog or website
- Editing and uploading photos
- Buying or selling on eBay
If you are interested in any of these areas (or in something not listed) and would like a quote, or if you have further questions, please fill out the contact form below and click the “Send” button.
